CILT Launch New Brand

(23 Sep 2013)

The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) Ireland recently hosted a visit by the CILT International President Dr. Dorothy Chan FCILT. In conjunction with this special visit the Institute hosted a number of events over two days. These included meetings with Irish academics with interests in the field of logistics and supply chain management (SCM) and with leading women working in the profession. Dr. Chan officially launched the CITL’s new international brand at a function hosted by Diageo at the Guinness Storehouse. In her keynote speech at the event, she said: “Promoting the knowledge and professional development of logistics and transport has been the Institute's mission, and that echoes my sentiments in many ways. It is my hope that our members would be credited not only for improving the mobility of society, but also for creating a better environment. My current work in education reinforces my belief that our young members will create a dynamic future for the profession”.

CILT also hosted a very well attended series of seminars to coincide with Dr. Chan’s visit. These covered the key areas of sustainable transport and logistics, humanitarian logistics, and logistics and SCM in the context of trade with Asia. The latter was chaired by NITL’s Edward Sweeney and featured presentations by Diageo and HP.

NITL congratulates CILT on the success of these events and looks forward to continuing its close collaboration with the Institute over the coming months and years.
