Following a final push for its bid to host the FIATA World Congress in Dublin in 2016, the team from the Irish International Freight Association (IIFA) traversed the final mile at the recent 2013 FIATA Congress in Singapore and accomplished a successful result after six months of concentrated effort. The World Congress was last in Dublin back in 1981 when in excess of 1000 visitors attended from overseas destinations. At that time, it was the very first event to take place in the National Concert Hall.

John O’Hanrahan, President of IIFA complimented the team on its achievement and wished to acknowledge the very important part played by Failte Ireland and professional congress organizers – Conference Partners of Carickmines, Dublin. IIFA is the sole representative body and official voice of Freight Forwarding in Ireland. Established in 1962, it has 117 full trading (corporate) members who between them employ more than 3,000 people and handle more than 90% of Ireland’s €148 billion international merchandise trade. Representation at international level is conducted through IIFA’s membership of FIATA – the International Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Associations.

NITL was delighted to support IIFA in its bid to bring this important event to Ireland and looks forward to working to support the event.
