GS1 Ireland hosted a Healthcare Breakfast Brieļ¬ng at the Clarion Hotel in Dublin’s IFSC last week, during the World of Health IT Conference and eHealth Week 2013. At the briefing delegates heard from three guest speakers:
- Sorcha McKenna, Partner, McKinsey and Company on an independent report published in October 2012 (“Strength in Unity”) which highlights the cost savings and patient safety benefits of adopting a single global supply chain standard in healthcare;
- Brian Thornley, Executive Director Global Customer Supply Chain, MSD on his organisation's approach to Pharma Serialisation and the benefits to be achieved through GS1 standards, including regulatory compliance; and,
- Vincent Callan, Facilities Manager, St. James's Hospital on a hospital's perspective of adopting a global standards approach.
