Hytech Logistics sign €1.5m contract with LLA to deliver DOPsys

(01 Jul 2013)

Hytech Logistics has signed a contract valued at €1.5m with the Logistics Learning Alliance (LLA) in the UK to deliver the world’s first ever certified technical distribution service – DOPsys. The new partnership will also see a set of accredited training programmes in technical distribution for the logistics sector that specifically include ‘final-mile delivery’. NITL is delighted to be acting as an advisor to Hytech on this initiative.

A crucial part of any supply chain is ‘final-mile delivery’. The last leg of the supply chain is where products are delivered to a required site and positioned to a point of use where they can be finally commissioned by technical staff, if required. Where it is costly for companies to develop these capabilities in-house, there are advantages in outsourcing to technical distribution companies to ensure this professional service is procured when required, so the client can concentrate on their core business activity.

“While logistics challenges abound at every link of the supply chain, the final mile carries some specific hurdles and characteristics that make it particularly complex,” said Peter Jones, Managing Director of LLA. “Not every third-party provider has the expertise to deliver to technical distribution standards, which has created a requirement for proper certified industry training for all involved in this process. Hytech Logistics hasn’t just acknowledged this requirement; the company has acted on it and the LLA is very pleased to work with Hytech.”

“DOPsys will offer manufacturers and their distributors the opportunity to have their product delivered, offloaded and positioned to the same industry certified standard anywhere in the world, where previously the service was at best inconsistent,” said Stuart Burke, Managing Director of Hytech Logistics.

NITL commends Hytech and LLA for initiating this innovative project that has the potential to make a significant difference in this crucial part of the supply chain.
