NITL Article Commended

(16 Jan 2013)

In his first article of the new year, the well known supply chain blogger Ken Kinlock asks if “agile” will be the buzz word for 2013 (see http://ec-bp.com/index.php/advisors/ec-bps-bloggers/9232-is-agile-the-buzz-word-for-2013#SupplyChain). He provides brief descriptions of the words “lean” and “agile” and discusses the relationships between them. An example from GE in Kentucky is used by way of illustration.

In his article, Kinlock states that: “We have attempted to boil down a lot of material and give you a ‘bird's eye’ view of LEAN and AGILE in Supply Chain Management. The best overview/reference we have found is ‘Lean or Agile Supply Chains: Jargon or Action?’” by Edward Sweeney of NITL. This article was published in Logistics Solutions in 2004 and is available via NITL’s knowledge base at: http://arrow.dit.ie/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1019&context=nitloth.

eC-BP.com is a forum that focuses on supply chain integration (SCI) issues. It has a particular emphasis on good practices in e-commerce in a supply chain context.
