The one year programme leads to the award of a Masters degree in integrated logistics and freight transport by the University of Naples "Parthenope". The students commenced phase one of their studies in Naples in September and have already completed six modules on the fundamental building blocks of the subject. The NITL modules will cover a range of SCM topics, including sustainable supply chain design, business partnerships and the role of IT in supply chain integration. They will return to Italy in March to complete a work placement and a major research dissertation.

This initiative represents another dimension in NITL’s long standing learning and research collaboration with scholars from the various universities and research institutes based in the city of Naples. Commenting on the initiative during the recent programme launch, course director Prof. Renato Passaro said, “We are pleased to be working with a prestigious research-led group such as NITL as part of this programme. Our University has developed strong links in Ireland, particularly with NITL, and we look forward to opportunities afforded by this new partnership”. On behalf of NITL, Antonio de Linares welcomed the new students and looked forward to working with them during their stay in Dublin. During the launch Edward Sweeney of NITL added that “SCM is now a global phenomenon. Internationally focussed programmes such as this one add to the overall stock of knowledge in the field in an integrated and proactive manner”.
