Dr. Graham Heaslip was presented with the prestigious James Cooper Memorial Cup at the recent Logistics Research Network (LRN) conference hosted by Cranfield University. The prize is awarded annually by the CILT in the UK for the best Ph.D. thesis on a supply chain management topic in the UK and Ireland. Inaugurated in 2000, it is named in memory of Professor James Cooper and is awarded “for research that makes an original contribution to the field and is directly relevant to the management of the end-to-end supply chain”.
Graham’s Doctoral research was carried out at the University of Hull Logistics Institute (UHLI). It marries partnership theory, networks, coordination theory and supply chain principles from different sectors (including commercial, non-governmental organisations, and military sectors) to benefit humanitarian logistics. The research presents a conceptual partnership framework that demonstrates a connection between the different actors and different phases in integrating civil-military cooperation in humanitarian logistics thereby alleviating logistics difficulties during relief operations.
