NITL was delighted to welcome a delegation from Linkoping University (LiU) in Sweden to Dublin recently. Dr. Daniel Nordigården and Dr. Jakob Rehme (pictured below with Edward Sweeney of NITL) are both based in the Department of Management and Engineering (Industrial Marketing Division) at LiU and are well known for their work in supply chain research.

NITL has established a strong relationship with academic colleagues at LiU. This work, which is carried out in collaboration with NITL’s longstanding partners at the University of Naples “Federico II” and the Italian National Research Council (IRAT-CNR), is focussed on the development of environmentally sustainable supply chains. It has a particular emphasis on green third party logistics (3PL).
Like NITL, LiU places a strong emphasis on the environment as part of its overall research strategy. The collaboration has to date resulted in a number of publications in international peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and international conference papers. The findings from the research have been presented in the Netherlands, the UK and Italy, as well as in Ireland and Sweden. NITL looks forward to building on this relationship over the coming years.

During the conference, Edward presented a paper entitled “A Case Study Investigation on Purchasing Green Transport and Logistics Services” that was written by the four photographed researchers.
